Should I go uPVC or timber?

uPVC is the practical choice on most houses: it does not need painting and it lasts. On a period property where the detail matters, or where a conservation condition applies, painted timber is the right answer and we will fit it.

My gutter sags in the middle. Is that the fascia?

Usually. Brackets lose their grip in soft timber and the gutter drops, which stops it draining. Replacing the fascia and refixing the gutter properly is the fix, rather than adding another bracket.

Do you need scaffolding?

For a two-storey eaves run, usually a tower or scaffold is needed to work safely and get a straight line. For a single-storey or garage eaves it can often be done from ladders. We will tell you which at the quote.

Do uPVC fascias need painting?

No, and that is the main reason people move away from timber. They want washing down occasionally, and a woodgrain foil holds its colour better than a cheap white board on a sunny elevation.

Can they be fitted without scaffolding?

On a garage or single-storey eaves, usually. At two storeys we would want a tower or scaffold, both to work safely and to get a straight line along the run, and that is in the quote.
